As a fashion designer, you will be responsible for creating and developing original initial design ideas and concepts for clothing and fashion ranges.

What do Fashion Designers do?

Fashion designers study fashion trends, sketch the initial clothing or accessory design, select fabrics and patterns, and supervise how the products they designed are to be made. They usually specialise in one area of design, such as sportswear or children's wear.

How to become a Fashion Designer?

Step 1
Take any stream in 12th

Candidates with any stream at the plus two level are eligible for higher studies in design related courses.

Step 2
Take B.Des in Fashion Designing

To build career in Fashion designing, you need to take a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Designing. Duration of the program is 3-4 years.


Note :

There are also diploma courses available in the area of fashion designing. The duration of these courses are usually 1 year.

Step 3
Take M.Des. in Fashion Designing

It is necessary to give importance to the institution while you are applying for this course. Students with an undergraduate degree in any discipline are eligible to join this course and it is usually of 2 years duration.
