What do Yoga graduates do?

Yoga therapists use yoga to treat people with physical and emotional issues, ranging from asthma, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and back pain to stress, anxiety and depression.


Yoga instructors teach the use of postures and proper breathing exercises to help clients develop flexibility, strength, balance and peace of mind.

What does a typical day at work involve?

As a yoga therapist/instructor you would

  • Checked Meet with clients and take note of the physical condition and any related lifestyle factors and decide on an appropriate programme/therapy.
  • Checked Conduct one-to-one sessions for the client or group classes for many clients.
  • Checked Teach a combination of simple movements and postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques.
  • Checked Give advice on how to maintain good health and a sense of inner peace and relaxation.
  • Checked Visit and provide consultancy services to sports centres and health clinics.

What are the different specialisations in Yoga and Naturopathy?

This specialisation deals with using Yoga for Rehabilitation such as physical rehabilitation of coronary artery disease and stroke patients, psychological rehabilitation of post traumatic stress disorder or psychotic patients and social rehabilitation of persons in jail and children in remand homes.
Yoga therapy specialisation is about treatment methods that uses yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation, and guided imagery for stress reduction and managing lifestyle related disorders to improve mental and physical health.

How to become a professional in Yoga/Naturopathy?

Step 1
Take Science stream with Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Students passing 12th Science are eligible to pursue admission to medical graduate course in yoga.

Pre-Tib Course is a full time course of one year duration leading to main Unani Degree. A pre-tib course will act as a sufficient qualification for admission into BUMS. A candidate seeking admission to Pre-Tib course must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent.

Step 2
Take BNYS

Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Science (BNYS) is a Medical Degree Graduation Programme in India which covers the study of Naturopathy Medicine and Therapeutic Yoga. Duration of this programme is 5 1/2 years (4 1/2 yr course + 1 yr Internship) .Students should clear NEET UG for admission.


Special Point: DNYS(Diploma in Naturopathy and Yogic Science)

DNYS is a 3 year diploma program in Naturopathy and Yogic Science.Minimum eligibility for securing admission to DYNS is HSC(10+ 2) or equivalent in any stream.

Step 3
Take MD Yoga & Naturopathy Science

A candidate having completed 5/5½ years Medical Program from any stream (MBBS, BAMS, BNYS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS), having completed Yoga Instructor's Course (YIC) from VYASA/S-VYASA University are eligible to apply for the program.The minimum duration of the residential program will be three-years.


Special Point: PG DYNS

PG DYNS is one year pg diploma program in yoga and naturopathy Science. Candidate seeking admission should have any medical degree or DYNS.

Step 4
Take PhD

To be eligible for applying to the program, the student shall have passed Master’s degree of any discipline or Medical Graduation (Professional Five and half years) and Yoga Instructor’s Course (YIC). Selection will be based on entrance test and interview.
