How to become a graduate in cultural and religious studies?

Step 1
Take any stream in 10+2

Students who have taken any stream in plus two are eligible for admission to cultural / religious studies course. But humanities is a better choice.

Step 2
Take any Bachelor's degree

There is no common course offered at the UG level in this area in india. Someone who is interested to do higher studies in this field can do a bachelors degree, preferably in a social science and Humanities specialisation, and then go for a masters in Cultural /Religious Studies (MA Cultural /Religious studies).

Step 3
Take MA in Cultural/Religious Studies

After completing the UG in any specialisation, you can go for an MA in Cultural/Religious Studies. These are 2 year programs which are available only in a few institutions across India.

Step 4
Take MPhil/PhD

Mphil and PhD requirements vary from college to college. Few institutes ask for work experience as well.

India (MA Islamic Studies from Aligarh Muslim University)

  • Bachelor's degree in any subject with an aggregate of 50%.
  • An entrance test for all candidates applying for PG courses will be conducted and it will be followed by a personal interview.

Foreign (MSc Culture and Society from London School of Economics and Political Science)

  • Statement of academic purpose.
  • Two references.
  • IELTS Academic: an overall score of 7 and a score of 6 in writing and 6.5 in listening.
  • TOEFL: a total score of 100.
